Welcome to North Carolina

Sunday, August 25 - One of our favorite Road Trip events is crossing a state line.  What is the sign going to look like?  How easy will it be to get a picture of it?  Will we be able to stop, or will I have to snap a pic on the fly?  And in this case, will it be a typical metal reflective sign like you see on the interstate, or will it be a wood sign that is characteristic of the Parkway?  Yes, these are the conversations we have in the car on the Road Trip.  After all, this is the 27th state in 5 road trips.  Well, we were not disappointed with the entrance to North Carolina on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  A very tasteful wood sign in the spirit of the BRP.
A few miles after getting into the state, we got off the parkway to find our accommodations for the night:  The Glade Valley Bed & Breakfast.  After a few trips up and down the road to find it, we found it:  a really nice log home down a wooded drive.  Our hosts were Margaret and Jim, and we were fortunate enough to have the B&B to ourselves for the night, complete with a personalized welcome at the front door.
