Monday, August 26 – We wanted to stay at the historic Grove
Park Inn (built in 1913), but unfortunately it was completely booked for a
convention. Sandy’s been here before,
and she knew I’d love it because it’s built and furnished in the Arts &
Crafts style. (I’m a big fan of
Stickley furniture). The Grove Park is
also renowned for their Spa, which Sandy has also been a patron of.
As a consolation for not being able to get a hotel reservation, we did score a front-row table on their Sunset Patio for dinner, so we were able to watch the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains. A perfect way to cap off our last night in the area.
